AES Committee Co-Chairs Steer 129th Convention Towards Bridge To Future

San Francisco, CA —  Guiding the 129th AES Convention Committee on their journey to the “Bridge To The Future,” which will culminate at SF’s Moscone Center Nov. 4-7, are Committee Co-Chairs Valerie Tyler and Jim McTigue.  AES Executive Director Roger Furness considers these team leaders outstanding co-pilots for the upcoming event.  “Both Valerie and Jim are long-term AES champions who have participated regularly in previous convention as well as local section events.  We are fortunate to have the benefit of their creative, managerial and technical skills at the helm of this year’s Committee,” Furness comments. T Bone Burnett and Engineer Mike Piersante Work with Prototype AML2 Reference Monitors at The Village on New Elton John/Leon Russell Project

Los Angeles, CA — The Grammy® -winning combination of T Bone Burnett and his long-time session engineer Mike Piersante were so taken with the sonic fidelity offered by a pair of prototype PMC AML2 Active Reference Monitors that they have held them hostage. “We had heard the AML2s here at The Village Studios during a Grammy®  Week party in late-January and wanted to see what they would sound like for the mixes we were completing in Studio B. I liked them instantly! The AML2s sounded so good – accurate, finely-detailed and capable of astonishing playback levels – that we hijacked them!” Piersante, only half seriously, offers that he’ll return the loudspeakers when the first production units reach North America from England later this month. Piersante has been Burnett’s first-call engineer for the past 14 years, and saw huge success with the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss project, Raising Sand, which was hailed Record of the Year at the 2009 Grammy® Awards.
