135th Audio Engineering Society Convention Hits A Five-Year High

October 25th, 2013 | Posted in News, newsletter

— Convention takes a bite out of the Big Apple and reminds the industry that “If It’s About Audio, It’s At AES” —

The 135th Audio Engineering Society Convention (Thursday, October 17, through Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Javits Center in New York City) was the place to be if you have anything to do with the audio industry. The exhibit floor, panels and technical sessions were packed all four days, and as AES celebrated its 65th Anniversary, a five-year-high number of 18,453 registrants was tallied.

At show close, AES reported a 16% increase in registration since the last time the convention was in New York two years ago (131st AES) and a staggering 71% increase over last year’s San Francisco event (133rd AES), which unfortunately was plagued by smaller attendance due to Hurricane Sandy.  More »

DirectOut Technologies® develops MADI Redundancy Switch with Buffer Loop Detection System™

October 24th, 2013 | Posted in News, newsletter

DirectOut Technologies presents its new MADI auto-changeover switch EXBOX.BLDS for mission-critical performance and production systems. EXBOX.BLDS employs D.O.TEC® BLDS – Buffer Loop Detection System™ signals to give instant and seamless changeover between two synchronized MADI sources and connections.

The free-to-download BLDS Generator creates a wav file containing a low level, virtually inaudible signal which is carried in one channel of the MADI stream.

Monitoring incoming connections, the EXBOX.BLDS detects the loss or corruption of the BLDS signal and instantly switches, within 1 sample, to the backup signal.

The MADI inputs can also be selected or switched manually using a front panel push button or via four GPI (switch) inputs on the front panel. Four GPOs are also provided to deliver status to external control systems or indicators.

The device can be updated with new or customized firmware via the integral USB port. Remote control of advanced features is also possible.

EXBOX.BLDS will be available from December 2013.

Together with other innovations D.O.TEC® EXBOX.BLDS had its transatlantic premiere at 135th AES convention.
