54th International AES Conference to Focus on Audio Forensics – Techniques, Technologies and Practice

The AES 54th International Conference, scheduled to take place June 12-14, 2014 in London, is dedicated to exploring advances in the field of Audio Forensics by providing a platform for research related to the forensic application of speech/signal processing, acoustical analyses, audio authentication, and the examination of methodologies and best practices.  This is the fifth AES conference devoted to the technical developments and practical approaches developing in the field of Audio Forensics (past conferences: 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012).  With increasing attendance at these events this conference has become the hub for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas and foster new approaches to address problems that are evolving every day.  The conference program will include Paper presentations and discussions as well as Workshops on topics related to Forensic Audio.

AES136 Berlin Highlights Project Studio Expo and Special Sound for Picture Programming

Celebrating the success of the 136th Audio Engineering Society Convention, which took place April 26 – 29, 2014 at the Estrel Hotel and Convention Center in Berlin, Germany, the AES continues to forge new territory with its successful tracks and programs at recent Conventions. Making its European debut was the heavily-attended Project Studio Expo, sponsored by DPA Microphones, as well as an expanded Sound for Picture track, of interest to many of today’s leading professionals. Additional Technical Program events, manufacturer exhibitions, tech tours and more rounded out the Convention, which paved the way for AES138, which will next year be held in Poland (as announced at the Berlin opening ceremonies). Creative Audio Provides JBL VTX Loudspeakers for George Jones Tribute Concert

“Playin’ Possum! The Final No Show – A Tribute to George Jones” was recently held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and featured a “who’s who” of country music luminaries including Alabama, Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley, Kid Rock, Miranda Lambert, Travis Tritt and many more—122 artists in total. Jones, considered by many to be the greatest country singer who ever lived, was honored in a four-hour concert attended by thousands of people, with live sound provided by Rockford, Illinois-based Creative Audio and a HARMAN JBL audio system that included more than 100 VTX and VerTec® line array loudspeakers. e2 Creates New Sounds for “Godzilla” with Sanken CO-100K Microphone

Erik Aadahl and Ethan Van der Ryn, the e2 sound design team for the Godzilla reboot, have employed the revolutionary Sanken CO-100K microphone to create the new roar of the beast and a bizarre array of otherworldly sounds.  Van der Ryn and Aadahl are responsible for the sound design and sound editing of the Transformers and Kung Fu Panda films. Other credits include the Lord of the Rings series and The Tree of Life. Together they have garnered seven Oscar nominations and two wins. More »
